Awelani Lodge & Eco-tourism Park
Awelani means ‘place of rest’ and this is just what this Limpopo accommodation establishment offers visitors to SA’s northern areas. Just 12kms from Kruger’s Pafuri gate it’s ideal for safari visitors. Self-catering units offer ideal family accommodation. Onsite catering and a pub are also available. Awelani Eco-Tourism Park lies in a forest overlooking mountains and trees that are home to many types of wildlife.
Providing self-catering two-room units, the lodge also has a restaurant and pub, as well as conference and event facilities. Owned by the local Mutele community, Awelani is set in a 1000 ha Eco-Park, where visitors can go on nature walks to see small animals and birds; enjoy the magnificent baobab trees and view the local Bushmen paintings. Awelani is ideally situated for day visitors to Kruger’s northern section, cross-border travellers and those visiting the northern parts of Limpopo.

“We stayed here in December 2015 for 3 nights, intending to use the lodge as a base from which to visit the Kruger Park but we decided to not go into the park and explored the reserve instead. We ended up hiking as the landscapes are fantastic and we explored the many caves to discover the amazing rock art. The Christmas dinner was also tops!”
